Anikto LLC Launches Web Accessibility Blog

Posted on Apr 30, 2008

Chances are, you’re here because you have some interest in topics related to web accessibility or user-centered design. With that in mind, it’s probably worth my providing a quick intro.

My name is Kel Smith. I’m a Web professional who has cultivated an interest in Section 508-related issues since 2002. My background spans leadership roles in technology, design and usability disciplines. I’ve published a couple of articles, blogged a bit, taught at UArts for six years, spoken at conferences. Blah blah.

In February of 2008 I launched a startup consultancy called Anikto LLC. Named after the Greek word for “open,” the company’s purpose is to act as a guide or practitioner for clients who seek to navigate the tricky landscape of web accessibility. Example scenarios might include working directly with an e-commerce business, or perhaps partnering with a legal professional in advising clients.

Mostly though, I want to firmly endorse the application of Universal Design principles to the Web. Offsite consulting, accessibility remediation, usability studies, concept development, corporate training and publishing/speaking opportunities are all cheerfully considered. It’s my sincere hope that this blog will provide an additional vehicle for that dialog, making the Internet better for all users.

That’s the 30-second elevator pitch. Many thanks for taking the time to visit this site.

    Hi Kel

I discovered your blog accidently, and what a delight. For many years I have been teaching students with sensory disabilities and I have been committed to staying informed and on top of issues related to their needs.

Now I am planning my website; and inaddition to considering the type of content I will put on it, I am very interested in developing it so that it is universally accessible to them.

So, I will be carefully following all that you have to offer in your blog.

    Jane
